HST Spindle Repair Division is one of the oldest independent spindle repair facilities in the country. Incorporated in 1986, we built our business by providing the highest quality spindle repairs and we stand behind our work 100%. With over 100,000 spindles repaired to date we have the experience that other shops wish they had.

Each of our senior technicians has over 15 years experience repairing spindles. They are experts in spindle repair and have fully mastered the nuances and requirements for the broad spectrum of spindle manufacturers. Additionally HST provides “behind the scenes” repair services for a number of high end machine manufacturers. These manufacturers inspect our facility to assure that HST quality complies with their demanding OEM standards. Our technicians are factory trained at these facilities.

There are several factors involving HST Quality. It doesn’t just happen because we say we have “quality”. Without the Commitment, Competence, Experience and Capability, quality is no more than an overused word.

Commitment
HST mindset is similar to artisans of bygone days. Although we strive to provide prompt service, our #1 priority is to provide the very best repair possible. We are not a production shop. Each repair is hand crafted by a person who signs his name to the Quality Assurance Certificate that accompanies each repair. To call our experts technicians is not really accurate; they are skilled craftsmen in the true sense of the word. They take pride in their work and have the desire to provide the best possible repair.

Competence
Our experts have the training necessary to provide OEM quality repairs. Our technicians receive on-going training at several high end OEM facilities as well as OEM training at our facility. Vibration Analysis, Balancing, Lubrication, and Draw Bar Operation are just a few areas of expertise required for proper spindle repair. Besides spindle manufacturers we have scheduled training sessions with manufacturers such as Vitec, Schenck, OTT, Kluber, Barden, Fafnir, NSK and others.

This experience constantly pays off for our customers with our insight into the nuances and requirements of the many different spindles we service. Capability
Our Candia facility is specifically outfitted to repair spindles. We maintain a climate controlled clean room environment enabling our experts to work with the incredibly tight tolerances required for proper high speed spindle operation.

We have balancing machines sized to handle “flyweight” PC spindles and balancing machines to handle large Okuma shafts. We have the specialty equipment for precision grinding to one micron, precision lubrication, microscopic inspection and vibration analysis. We have run-up stations for heavy industrial spindles and run-up stations for electronic and air bearing spindles. We are set up to repair spindles.

HST Divisions

To provide the most proficient service HST maintains two divisions:

• HST Spindle Division
• HST Ball Screw Division

The technicians in the spindle repair division specialize in spindle repair. That’s all they do. Likewise those in the ball screw repair division are specialists in the requirements for repairing high precision industrial ball screws.

HST Spindle Repair Division is actually composed of two subdivisions; HST Industrial Repair and HST Air Repair. Both sub-divisions are geared for getting your spindle back in service as fast as possible. Both sub-divisions are dedicated to providing the highest quality spindle repair possible.

The technicians who make up HST Industrial Repair group specialize in repairing the larger high speed spindles used in metal working and wood working. This class of spindles includes both motorized spindles and non-motorized spindles and is usually the most robust. These are your milling spindles, lathe spindles and grinding spindles. This group of experts is the one who will repair your Bridgeport spindle, Bryant spindle, Makino Spindle, Mazak Spindle, Mori Seiki spindle, Niigata spindle, Okuma spindle, OKK spindle, and Toyoda spindle. Other common industrial name brands include Parker, Tsugami, Kitamura, Monarch, Wadell, and Whitnon. Our HST Air Repair Group specializes in spindles used in manufacturing and processing semi-conductor, printed circuit boards, optic, medical applications and specialty material processing.  Spindles repaired by this group include air bearing spindles such as the ones used on Disco dicing saws, K&S dicing saws, ADT dicing saws. Other spindles in this group include Westwind, Tulon, and Federal Mogul. When NASA needed one of their air bearing spindles repaired, they called HST.

Additionally ultra precise high speed ball bearing spindles used for PC board drilling and routing such as Hitachi spindles and Precise spindles are repaired by this group. These high precision spindles are the smoothest and most precise with TIR measured in millionths of an inch, vibration readings an order of magnitude less and speeds an order of magnitude faster than the industrial counterparts.

Damaged Ball Screw

Most machines that use spindles also incorporate balls screws. To provide our customers with the same high quality repairs we provide for spindles, HST opened our Ball Screw Repair Division. HST Ball Screw Division operates out of a separate facility. We can repair or replace most ball screw assemblies up to Ø 125mm by 7 meters.
